This ride is all about making sure every rider of every skill level has fun — and that the horses do, too.
Once you’ve met your match, you and your crew will get an informative safety briefing to help you all ride with the utmost confidence. Don’t worry if you’re new to horseback riding, you’ll get helpful pointers and tips for getting around safely with your trusty steed. And if you’ve been riding for years, consider the brief a refresher (plus learn need-to-know info for navigating the park). Then, it’s time to ride!
Exploring Garden of the Gods on Horseback
While horseback riding through the park, you and your group will weave your way amongst the towering red sandstone formations that have made the Garden of the Gods a premier Colorado destination for visitors and locals alike. As you ride along the tranquil trails, Academy Riding Stable’s trained cowboys will share stories about the park and its history and point out the regional flora and fauna. On quieter sections of the ride, you may even catch a glimpse of some Colorado wildlife, including mule deer, foxes, rabbits and the elusive bighorn sheep.
These spectacular scenic horseback riding excursions are offered year-round (weather permitting) via one-hour and two-hour tours to individuals ages 8+ and within the 235-pound weight (106 kg). (By the way locals, Academy Riding Stables also offers full-care horse boarding for your horse.) Because this attraction is so popular, advance reservations are strongly recommended, particularly in the summer.

When is Academy Riding Stables open?
Academy Riding stables is open all year round for horseback riding, weather permitting.
Do I get to choose my own horse for horseback riding?
Unfortunately you cannot choose your own horse for horseback riding. Horses have personalities just like people and the stables will help you find your perfect match. Horses also need breaks after a long trips, so every horse may not be ready for your ride.
Should I make reservations before I come?
Yes, Academy Riding Stables strongly recommends making reservations ahead of time. Please call (888) 700-0410 to schedule.
What should I wear?
Wear closed toe shoes, preferably sneakers, and long pants. You'll go through some rough spots! Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are also very important. The sun is very hot and you won't have much cover during your ride.
Are there any restrictions?
Riders ages 8 years or older and under 235 pounds (106 kg) are welcome to ride.
