WHAT'S NEW IN 2010?

Academy Riding Stables
For a taste of the West that is not quite as intense as an hour or two on the back of a horse, try our new “Heritage Tour” of Old Colorado City. Launching from Bancroft Park, our surrey or Mountain Wagon will take you on a 30-40 minute tour pointing out the highlights of the gold milling glory days of Old Colorado City. Tours run every hour on the hour, Wednesday through Sunday during the summer, and depending on demand during the other seasons.

Challenge Unlimited
It’s our 20th anniversary! In celebration of our 20th year in business, we will roll back our prices to $80 per person, just as they were in 1990. Offer good every Sunday,  May 3-June 13 and September 12-October 23.

Cripple Creek Heritage Center
Model railroad display, depicting the railways of the Gold Camp.
Art gallery of local artists with a Native American theme on the lower level.

Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center
Segway tours are a great way to experience one of nature’s greatest treasures: the Garden of the Gods Park. Unobstructed views and a mellow pace will ensure your visit to this beautiful city park is memorable. Several stops along the way will be sprinkled with geology, flora, fauna and stories of the early days in the park. Tours depart from the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. The 45-minute short loop costs $55 per guest and the long loop costs $85 for one hour and fifteen minutes. Call 578-0935 or 800-755-0935 or visit www.advoutwest.com for reservations (required).

Miramont Castle Museum
The Manitou Springs Volunteer Fire Department Antique Equipment Exhibit is coming in the Spring! Included will be an antique hose cart--the oldest piece of fire-fighting equipment in Colorado, trophy horn, call boxes, fire hydrant and muffin bell. Special events will include a Valentines Day Dinner, Murder Mystery, Victorian Easter Egg Hunt, Mother’s Day High Tea, July 4th Old Fashioned Style, Emma Crawford’s Victorian Wake and Victorian Christmas.

Royal Gorge Bridge and Park
Move ‘em up and head ‘em out! Beginning in May, the park will offer mule trail rides starting at $25 for the half-hour View Point Trail ride. Mules are a cross between male donkeys and female horses and are considered sure-footed animals adept at navigating rough terrain, narrow paths, and steep climbs and  descents. The mules and train rides are provided by the experienced outfitter, Watt Mule Company, and operate May through Labor Day. Other extended rides are available: the View Point and Terrain Trail (one hour) and Ride the Rim of the Gorge Extreme Ride (two hours); call for availability and prices. Also new for 2010 is the Native American display in the Mountain Man Trading Post, a complete depiction of an 1800’s Ute camp.
