Manitou Springs Chick Crawl Returns with More Merchants —and Yes, More Chocolate!
Guided girls’ night out event combines chocolate, wine and two separate tours of Manitou’s hippest shopping hotspots.
The “Coolest Small Town in America”---known for its unique, eccentric and yes, even weird events---has a new hit with the Manitou Springs Chick Crawl! A Girls’ Nite Out that is “Manitou” to the core, the second Manitou Springs Chick Crawl is scheduled for Friday, November 6, at 5:30 p.m. Due to overwhelming demand, two separate crawls are scheduled for this date. Founder Sara Keller and other local shopping and dining gurus will lead each group literally from one end of downtown to the other, sampling locally made chocolate, wines and desserts while browsing through several one-of-a-kind shops. Participants will have the opportunity to create a holiday wish-list to leave behind for friends and loved ones at each shop as well as learn new holiday entertaining ideas.
The first crawl begins at D’Vine Wines of Manitou Springs (Manitou’s own winery) and features savory treats from Patsy’s Candies (a Manitou institution since 1903) and then moves Salus (organic, pure bath and body products). From there, the chicks move to Coquette Creperie to sample delectable crepes and receive special one night only gift certificate pricing. The Crawl continues down Manitou Avenue to Spice of Life (an ingredients emporium) and Green Horse Gallery (an artist owned gallery). Across the street, the chicks will join the Ten Spot (fashionable accessories for $10 or less), Piramide (specializing in natural fibre clothing and enviro-friendly rayons), and on to one of Manitou’s newest additions, Girl of the Golden West (deluxe women’s western wear and accessories). The evening winds up with a stroll to another one of Manitou’s newest additions, the Red Mountain Bar and Grill at the Cliff House!
The second crawl begins at the Stagecoach Inn (classic Colorado comfort food), and then moves up Manitou Avenue for a quick dash into Swirl (a Wine Emporium). The next stop is Mountain Living Studio (two-story gallery featuring the work of over 150 Colorado artists). The group then continues on Manitou Avenue to the Shops at the Promenade. The Promenade shops include: LeGrande Accents (unique home décor), Sophie’s Wood Studio (hand carved wooden sculpture and hand-made quilts), Range Gallery (showcases the photography of Kathleen McFadden), and the Corner Goldsmith (actual goldsmiths for jewelry design or repair). The next stop is La Henna Boheme, Whatever Vintage Clothing Boutique, and Pikes Peak Chocolate where the group will delight at the vast array of clothing, accessories, jewelry, henna tattoos, books, stationery and handmade chocolate confections packed into one corner. The night completes by joining the other group of chick crawlers at the Red Mountain Bar and Grill at the Cliff House where all participants can compare notes on shopping and dining in Manitou Springs, share their wish-lists, and talk about preparing for the upcoming holiday season.
Participants and their peeps will be offered “early bird” specials at each location, refreshments along the route, demonstrations for holiday entertaining, and holiday discounts on shopping.
