Royal Gorge Bridge & Park Celebrates Labor Day Weekend September 5-7.
Bell’s Fort Free Trappers and Muzzle Loaders 25th Annual Rendezvous on the South Rim of the Royal Gorge September 5-7.
Eighty years ago, workers were in the middle of putting up the world’s highest suspension bridge, known as the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City, Colo., eight decades later, the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, celebrates Labor Day Weekend with a “country” flair.
The park will show off the same spectacular scenery it has since man first arrived a few centuries ago, along with “characters” from the Colorado Frontier.
The 25th Annual Rendezvous of the Bells Fort Free Trappers and Muzzle loaders will take place at the South Entrance to the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Participants present a living history of the first pioneers in Colorado referred to as mountain men with authentic pre 1840’s dress, games, food and “ware” to sell.
In the park’s Mountain Man Trading Post, “Doc” and his Royal Gorge Performing steers will patrol the historic replica of a mountain man town complete with gold panning and a draft mule drawn wage ride. Horseback riding will be available Friday through Sunday starting at $25 for a half hour “Ride the Rim” trail. This is an extra pay feature in the park.
Special entertainment and music is scheduled throughout the park. Labor Day Weekend park hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. General admission includes the world’s highest suspension bridge, the world’s steepest incline railway, the world’s longest single-span aerial tram and approximately a dozen more rides, shows, and attractions. A popular extra pay feature is the thrill seekers ride, the Royal Rush Skycoaster.
