Lunch and A Look at the Garden
Tuesdays at Noon in March, April & May

Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center’s free educational lecture series celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Charles Elliot Perkins’ gift of Garden of the Gods Park to the City of Colorado Springs in 1909, continues into May, 2009.

Actors portraying various individuals of that time provide unique perspectives not only about the actual gift of the Park but of popular sentiments regarding its use. And, a revision to our calendar

Each Tuesday at noon during May, a free half-hour presentation is being offered:

May 5: Observations of Charles Perkins’ daughter Alice about his children’s perspective on this generous ‘gift’

May 12: Photographs - 1909 to present - depicting changes in the landscape of the Garden

May 19: A glimpse at General Palmer, about our city founder’s relationship with the Park, presented this month by guest speaker from Glen Eyrie, Susan Fletcher

May 26: “Garden People” - various nonconformists who had their own visions for the development of Garden of the Gods

Reservations are required, 719-219-0108. Following each presentation, participants are invited to stay for lunch in our café (at their own expense) to continue the conversation about the day’s topic.
