CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO
DEBUTS BLOG TODAY

-- Behind the scenes views will be featured in blog --

October 16, 2008 – Today, America’s mountain Zoo will officially roll out their new blog for internet users to read and interact with. The new site is named “In Between the Spots” to reflect the nature and themes of the blog and to play off the incredible popularity of the Zoo’s giraffe herd. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s new internet blog will be linked from the Zoo’s recently redesigned website (www.cmzoo.org) or can be accessed through its own address (http://cheyennemountainzooblog.blogspot.com/) .

As is stated on today’s introduction page of the blog, “from amazing animal stories to a behind the scenes look at daily Zoo life, now we have a way to share the Zoo on a more personal level and give you a glimpse of our world.”

All of the blog posts will be written by Zoo staff and volunteers from every department across the Zoo. From Keepers to Curators -Horticulturists to Vet Staff, bloggers will get the inside scoop at “In Between the Spots.”

The blog will also give Zoo guests the opportunity to share photographs and stories from recent Zoo visits and participate in surveys, contests and other intriguing activities. The blog will also be the site for more in-depth reporting of activities concerning Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and give up-to-the-minute updates on a variety of Zoo issues and events. Entries will be displayed in reverse-chronological order for easy reference and access of content. Past blog entries will also be archived to create a virtual diary of the inner workings of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Founded in 1926, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is home to more than 750 animals representing approximately 142 species, 30 of which are endangered.
